Most all-inclusives include all meals, snacks, drinks (alcoholic and non-alcoholic), non-motorized water sports, entertainment, and tips. What varies is the quality of those inclusions — some resorts have 10+ restaurants while others have 2, and not all "unlimited alcohol" is the same quality. I'll be upfront about exactly what's included before you book.

For most families and couples vacationing in the Caribbean or Mexico, yes — the math usually works out, and the mental ease of "it's already paid for" is genuinely valuable. Where it's less clear is for travelers who plan to leave the resort a lot for excursions or local dining. I can run a true comparison for your specific trip.

Sandals is couples-only (no children) and positioned as a luxury all-inclusive, with a higher baseline quality on food, drinks, and room categories than most brands. They also include scuba diving and water sports that other resorts charge for. For the right couple, Sandals is unbeatable. For families, their sister brand Beaches or alternatives like Excellence or Secrets make more sense.

Cancun and the Riviera Maya are the most popular — direct flights from DFW, short transfers, and hundreds of resort options at every price point. Punta Cana is a close second with excellent value. For something more unique, Jamaica and the Turks & Caicos offer stunning beaches with a very different vibe. I'll factor in flight times, budget, and what your family values most.
